Kitagawa Keiko gives a shout-out to Nagatomo Yuto in South Africa

(Source: Sanspo) 23 year old Kitagawa Keiko attended the premiere of her new movie, Matataki, at Shinjuku Balto on 19th June and took the opportunity to give a shout-out of support to Meiji University alumni Nagatomo Yuto, a Japanese defender in the national team, currently in South Africa for the World Cup.

They had met in their 3rd year at college after being introduced by mutual friends. Kitagawa Keiko was supporting the Japanese team that night against Holland (they eventually lost 1-0 to Holland) and hoped that Japan would "defend their goals and get as many points as possible".

In her new movie, Kitagawa Keiko plays a girl who loses her boyfriend in an accident which traumatizes her and causes her to lose her memory of their times together.

Matsushima Nanako and Omori Nao in new movie

(Source: Sanspo) Matsushima Nanako (36) will appear in a movie called "The story of you and dog - a dog movie" (roughly translated) scheduled for release next year, alongside Omori Nao. This omnibus movie is the second in the series of dog movies, the first of which was released in 2005.

Nanako revealed that she loves dogs and has assisted in the delivery of her dog's puppies. I'm just happy she has a new movie out.

Oguri Shun Climbs Rock Mountains

Final Leg of DBSK's Tour

(Source: Sanspo) The new 3 member unit of DBSK, Jae Joong (24) , Yoo Chun (24), and Junsu (23), held the last concert of their tour at the Tokyo Dome on 13th of June. About 540,000 fans had showed up to give their support, and the 3 of them were rather emotional.

JaeJoong said that he wanted to continue working hard and singing with a 'purity' of feeling, and if possible, for eternity!

Junsu said that it was a dream just to be able to stand on the stage at the Dome and would continue working hard, in order not to let their fans down.

(Source: Sanspo) Koizumi Norihiro's new movie Flowers was released on the 12th of June, and only Suzuki Kyoka (42) and Nakama Yukie (30) were present on that day to give their support.

The film follows the lives of the women in one family for three generations, starting from the early part of the Showa period. Apart from the two who were present, the film also stars Aoi Yuu (24), Takeuchi Yuko (30), Tanaka Rena (30), and Ryoko Hirosue (29).

Although only 2 of the main cast were present, they dazzled the crowd in their beautiful kimonos.

Obama: What Change?

Last night, I was watching live on BBC as the UN Security Council as it voted through a new resolution imposing fresh new sanctions on Iran. 12 for, 2 against (Brazil and Turkey) and Lebanon abstained.

When Mohammad Khazaee responded in his speech (Iranian representative to the UN, picture above), bringing up past injustices wrought onto Iran, Susan Rice (US rep to UN, picture below) laughed incredulously. Or at least, it was presented in that way on the BBC footage.

I think it is a sad day for the world, and I feel very disappointed in the US (and others). The resolution was rushed through, for what joy?

I know you normally come here for Japanese gossip, but do take some time to watch this series: Iran and the West (BBC docu) on youtube, and make a new judgment. There is definitely more material around, but take this as a starter.

Ayase Haruka caught 6 times at Ozawa Takao's place! in the span of half a month

Ayase Haruka has been seen grocery shopping in the vicinity of Ozawa's house, and Ayase's company car has also been spotted entering Ozawa's mansion (the photos of which were reportedly published in the 4th June issue of Friday magazine).

The two of them had reportedly started dating since they worked together on the TBS drama Jin in October 2009.

They were seen emerging from a shop in an intimate manner, and then walking to their car in the car park. Then, Ryo drove them both into the night. It has only been two months since Fuji Lena broke up with Da Pump's ISSA (31) and already she has bagged a new squeeze.

Fuji Lena had been dating ISSA since June 2009, but when they broke up in April this year Fuji Lena reportedly commented that there was somebody whom she liked to a female magazine. She also said that "there are scarcely periods in her life when she's not dating" (literally: not dating almost never happens [to me]).

The two artistes had previously worked on a film, Memories of Matsuko in 2006. Congratulations to the two, Kimura Kaera is one of my favourite Japanese artistes!!! Yay!!

An eyewitness has revealed that on one night in the VIP section of a certain club in Tokyo, Akanishi Jin had been seen interacting with Japanese pop star Crystal Kay, who was wearing a grey jacket.

Some time after 2am, Korean Superstar BoA (23) was then spotted in a sexy clothes next to him. Akanishi had been drinking alot of tequila, and BoA was sipping on a cocktail. Apparently, the three celebrities have been friends for quite a while now (BoA and Crystal Kay have known each other for 8 years) and whenever they are together they interact in English.

When asked to comment, Namie Amuro said that she was very very happy and thanked all the staff and dancers with whom she collaborated. She also said she would continue to work hard to make good songs and videos.

Ueno Juri for NHK's Taiga Drama 2011

(Source: Mainichi) It was announced on the 25th of January that Ueno Juri (25) will be playing the title role in NHK's Taiga Drama on the life of Tokugawa Hidetada's (the second Shogun of the Tokugawa dynasty) daughter, Gou. The drama is entitled Gou~Himetachi no Sengoku (Gou~ The Princesses of the Warring States).

The script was written by Tabuchi Kumiko, who also wrote the script for NHK's previous Taiga Drama, Atsuhime (which starred Miyazaki Aoi). This will be the first Taiga Drama for Ueno Juri of Nodame Cantabile fame.

Nishino Kana: Breakthrough Artiste of 2010

For girls aged between 10 and 20, Nishino reportedly gave them an "Ayu" feeling. (Ayumi Hamasaki) Nishino Kana was chosen from among 40,000 hopefuls during auditions organised by Sony Music and had a major debut in 2008.

Maki Goto's Mother Dies

(Source: Sanspo) At 10.55 on 23rd January, the mother of Maki Goto (GoMaki), former member of popular Japanese pop unit Morning Musume, was found lying on the road outside their house, bleeding from the head. GoMaki's sister then promptly called 119 and their mother was then sent to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Goto family's house has three levels, and the window at the third level was found to be slightly ajar. The possibility of suicide has not yet been ruled out. GoMaki's mother, Tokiko-san, was also said to be drunk the night before according to an eye-witness account. The three ladies had been living together in their 3-storey house before the accident.

It was observed also, that the cast reminded one strangely of TSUBAKI CMs, where many beautiful actresses (Nakama Yukie notably included) are featured to reflect the "beauty of Japan". Given these tropes of familiarity, there has been talk of a tie-up between the movie and a new TSUBAKI CM campaign. Let's wait and see!

Oguri Shun and Yamada Yuu return from their holiday!

When asked if this was a pre-marriage holiday jaunt, the reply was no, but with a serene smile on the face. When asked if the holiday was fun, Oguri Shun replied affirmatively. Oguri Shun was also seen to be helping Yamada Yuu with her luggage out of the airport.

The couple had started dating since March 2008, after working with each other on the same drama in January of the same year.

Shokotan releases Book and Album!

According to the report, the other party has been a good friend for 7 years, but the two had only started seriously dating from September 2009 to December 2009 (4 months!) Yoshimura Yumi has previously been married to Nishikawa Takanori (whose stage alias is T.M. Revolution) from 1999 to 2003.

Doppelganger: SS501 Member & Utt

(fatfish) I recently went to view SS501's MV - U R Man. (wanted to check out claims that it's a viral ear-worm kind of song). The video is set in a glam-gangster environment (think Hong Kong or Japanese mafia), but I thought this particular SS501 member (sorry I don't know who!) looked particularly like MTV VJ Utt in the video. Greg Uttsada, of Thai descent, is pictured below. As for the song, I was intrigued by their interesting chord progressions, especially on the choruses. They actually shift the key up then down again about 3 times in one chorus, which is highly unorthodox (usually pop tunes only go up, they don't go down). Shifting up brings the song a higher feel in terms of notes and also excitement (if that's even the right word). So. It's an interesting tune!

Their album - Koe Wo Kikasete (Hear our voice) - will be released on 4th of November, and features the Opening Track to a TBS drama called Ohitori-sama (The Loner - my translation) which airs every Friday night at 10pm.

Arashi will perform 30 songs which they have released since their debut in November 1999 in 3 hours. MatsuJun (25) shouted " It is Arashi's 10th Anniversary! Aren't you happy?" to a 'high tension' stadium of 70,000 people.

Photos of the members of Arashi through the 10 years were screened, including those taken during their performances. At the end leader Satoshi Ono (28) said, "In these ten years you have loved and supported us, we are happy and content." Aiba (26) was moved to tears onstage.

Arashi will have performances for 3 consecutive days at the stadium, after which they will perform at the Dome. They will be giving 15 concerts in total.

This was Nanako's first time at trying voice acting, and she commented that trying to act using only the voice was very difficult. "Even after putting my emotions into it, the director said, One more time please!"

In this movie, Tokiwa Takako plays a radio show host and the movie is about people who want to tell some things and express themselves but find themselves unable to do so, thus resorting to writing letters to the radio. Tokiwa also admitted that there were many times in her life when she wanted to communicate some important things to some people in her life, but found herself unable to do so and so turned to writing letters instead.

When the stars were supposed to write Tanzakus (short poems) for the upcoming Tanabata festival (festival of the weaver), Tokiwa wrote one to Michael Jackson, thanking him for the dream he has given her.

B'z to perform at Summer Sonic 2009

(Source: Mainichi) It was announced today, 4th June, that rock unit B'z will perform at Summer Sonic 2009, a music festival that will take place from 7th-9th August this year. This festival is an annual festival involving at least 20,000 people and is an outdoor live event. This year, B'z will performances both in Chiba (Marine Stadium) and Osaka (Ocean Stadium). This will be their second performance in two years, since 2007. The last time B'z performed was in September 2008.

Tomorrow, on the 5th of June, B'z's new single for Suzuki's new compact car, Swift, will be on sale. The title of the track is called "Dive". The CM is below for your viewing pleasure.

Fans outraged by Akanishi's absence in Gokusen:The Movie

(Source: Entame) Recently, the actors that will be starring in Gokusen:The Movie was announced. They included actors like Kamenashi Kazuya, Oguri Shun, Hayami Mokomichi, Koikei Teppei, Ishigaki Yuma, Narimiya Hiroki and Koide Keisuke. However Matsumoto Jun from Season 1 and Akanishi Jin from Season 2 were notably absent from the cast.

In the recent KAT-TUN concert held on 18th May 2009, Akanishi Jin had commented that he was interested in acting in Gokusen:The Movie, but wondered aloud if "apart from him, everybody else was acting." 'If Kamenashi is casted, then so must Jin right?" He added, revealing his dissatisfaction.

However, reasons for Matsu-Jun and Akanishi's no-show in this movie are said to be simple schedule clashes. Akanishi Jin is playing a lead role in BANDAGE, a movie slated for release in 2010. There are rumours going about however that Johnny's is embarking on a "Save Kamenashi" mission. After the dismal performance of his dorama, Kami no Shizuku, critics predicted the end of his career as an idol-actor. Hence, Johnny's has been actively helping to resurrect his career (since he was such a cash cow for them anyway); this can be seen in his guest-starring role in Kimura Takuya's new dorama, Mr.Brain, and POSSIBLY in Matsu-Jun and Akanishi's absence in Gokusen : The Movie -- since all the spotlight would be on Kamenashi as the sole Johnny's representative amongst the leads.

Yoshiki's Biography sells 10,000 copies on first day

On 26th May, the total sales for 25th May were calculated and reportedly reached more than 10,000, setting a record. There were numerous online pre-orders and it seems likely that the first edition will soon be sold out.

The writer of the biography, Komatsu Narumi had said - " Everybody knows the Yoshiki that shines brilliantly on the stage. However, not everybody knows the Yoshiki that is often lonely, and who can never escape from his sorrow.

Meanwhile, Yoshiki has been making headlines overseas. He has reportedly been on an overnight date with a Chinese singer called Chan Tsui who is 30 years old. So far 70,000 copies of the book have been published. Kadokawa Publishers has confirmed that they will be reprinting the book for a second publication. The book reportedly contains 58 photos of Yoshiki as a kid, which were taken by his father.

News of them dating first started in July last year by the women's weekly Josei Seven. Ihara Rin is also said to be pregnant currently.

Matsumoto has been known in the circuit for his philanderous ways. His most famous girlfriend to date is Tokiwa Takako (37) which was exposed by the weekly "Friday" in May 1995. However, their vehement denials of marriage rumours in August 2003 more or less signalled the end to their relationship.

In response to this shocking revelation, the other half of the comic duo DOWNTOWN, Hamada Masatoshi released his "comment", as shown in the picture above.

It is based on almost 100 + hours of interviews, spread out over the course of a decade starting in January 1999 with Yoshiki. These interviews were conducted by Komatsu Narumi, a famous non-fiction writer who had also previously authored biographies of Hidetoshi Nakata and Ichiro Suzuki, both famous sports stars.

This book promises to reveal much information about Yoshiki, including his real name and birthdate which had been hidden from the media since his debut in 1989, Yoshiki's growing-up years, how Toshi and him became friends, his thoughts during X Japan's disbandment and HIDE's (accidental) suicide. Tamaki Hiroshi's Midsummer in Orion released today

The movie is directed by Tetsuo Shinohara and is based on the book "Raigeki Shindo Juukyuu-ten-go" by Tsukasa Ikegami and is set near Okinawa during WWII. The macro-plotline focuses on a battle between a Japanese submarine and an American destroyer, whilst micro-plotlines involves personal relationships amongst the characters.

Crows Zero 2 Released Today in Japan!

Since this movie finishes the series, director Takashi Miike gave "graduation certificates" to the cast (since the actors play high school boys in the movie). Oguri Shun expressed his happiness that he was able to 'graduate' because he never thought it was possible.

New addition to the cast Miura Haruma expressed his happiness too at being able to be part of such a wonderful and cool movie. The new sequel runs for 133 minutes and is a sequel to the Crows Zero, which was released in 2007.

When asked for her views on Sawajiri Erika's marriage to hypermedia creator Takeshiro Tsuyoshi (who, at 44, is twice Erika's age of 22), Horikita Maki had this to say. "I think that it would be nice to get married in my 20s, and the difference in age between the person I like and my own age does not matter. I like people who don't forget their sense of adventure and are not risk-adverse. " However, she also revealed that she was not seeing anybody at the moment.

(Source: Sanspo) So, she got married!! 22 year-old actress Sawajiri Erika got married to hyper-media-creator Takeshiro Tsuyoshi (44) in Tokyo's Shibutani Area yesterday, 19th January 2009. The ceremony was held at the Meiji Shrine.

About 1000 well-wishers flooded the area, some shouting out "Erika-sama, congratulations on getting married!" and others, "Look this way Erika!!" Erika was reported to have been looking very shy and would say "Domo!" (thanks!) to her screaming fans. Families of both persons were present, including Erika's elder brothers. After the ring-exchange ceremony, Erika waved to fans with the new ring on her finger.

GoMaki's new single out on 21st January!

Shirota Yu and Yasuda Misako are NOT a couple

(Source: Sanspo) The 23 year-old star of TBS' recent hit drama series, ROOKIES, is NOT dating 26 year-old Tarento, Yasuda Misako, according to both their companies. Shirota's company protests that they only share a normal friendship, whilst Yasuda's company denied all allegations flatly -- "They are not dating".

Both had starred in the movie "Arakure Knight" in 2007.
